In The Pipeline...

We're 15 months into work on a fascinating project for Watercare, maintaining a visual record of the entire upgrade of the Hobson Bay Sewer pipeline, replacing the 90-year-old sewer pipe bisecting the Hobson Bay on Auckland's waterfront Tamaki Drive. The $118.6 million Project Hobson will see the removal of the concrete sewer and its replacement with a three-kilometre long tunnel.

This footage will initially be supplied to broadcasters in Electronic Press Kit (EPK) form for news items and will take into account all major activities and milestones, while documenting progress at regular intervals. However it will also provide the basis for a later video explaining why the line needed to be upgraded and how effectively Watercare responded to that need. The primary audience for this message will be corporate and public stakeholders in the project along with anyone who requires an overview of this type of project, a first for Auckland.

Watercare needs to communicate:
- The importance of Watercare planning for the future by upgrading this key wastewater and sewerage, and the benefits of the upgrade to Auckland.
- The efficiency with which Watercare carried out the project on time (all going to plan- and it has so far) and with respect for the environment. In particular, the reason for the decision to replace the above ground pipeline with a tunnel.
