Air Force

From the mountains of the central North Island, to the dusty foothills of Afghanistan, the Royal New Zealand Air Force flies and operates there. Often working with limited resources, they none the less continue to be worldbeaters, holding up the New Zealand flag as well as any sports star. With an all access boarding pass, the show takes us on an unprecedented tour inside this often misunderstood organisation to see what it is that a modern air force really does. Carrying out the policy of the New Zealand government at an international level is no easy task. From peacekeeping to enforcing our territorial waters the mission of the RNZAF is an often thankless and dangerous task carried out by men and woman who are most likely under the age of 30. In this series we go behind the public façade to learn what the real pressures are on these people, how they cope and what it takes to do the extraordinary work that they do. Following these individuals as they carry out such diverse tasks as inserting supplies into war torn Afghanistan or carrying out search & rescue work in the Pacific, a human story unfolds of the life behind these activities. Often funny, sometimes tense, always exciting, it's a life that few understand, but even fewer want to leave once they have lived it. But whatever the case, it's an incredible story. Whether it be the exotic islands of the South Pacific or a base north of Auckland, Air Force will take us there. Aided by incredible footage of aircraft in flight, war torn landscapes and often covert missions in progress, Air Force the show to watch.
