Smokefree Rockquest

Rockquest is more than just a competition in New Zealand; it’s become essential experience for up and coming bands and a strong tradition. Every year, for over a decade, the nation’s teenagers have looked forward to this battle of the bands, either as the aspiring musicians or their enthusiastic supporters. With an abundance of talent in our high schools, Rockquest provides the unique opportunity for that talent to be seen and heard. Travelling the entire country, Rockquest’s inclusive selection process encourages musicians of varying ages and experience and the most diverse range of musician styles. From it’s humble beginnings as a one-hour performance special back in 1991, Rockquest has grown into a fully fledged television series that looks behind the music at our talented teens creating it, and launches them on onto the local music scene. As well as providing bands with a valuable experience, Rockquest is also providing the New Zealand music industry with its future. Touring New Zealand, Rockquest meets the bands in their home towns, gaining an in sight into the differing teen scenes throughout the country and learning about their passion for music. From the semi-finals through to the big concert, we follow our young hopefuls on this exciting and nerve racking adventure that will give one group the chance of a lifetime.
